15,000 passengers a month inside the Avianca app

Why building navigation into the airline app changed who uses it, and how the integration went live in about a month.

Most wayfinding lives on signs and kiosks. With Avianca, RouteMe lives inside the airline app, which changes who uses it and when.

Why the app matters

Passengers find "Explore the airport with RouteMe" right next to Manage your trip and Track your baggage. They can walk through the terminal before they leave home, which matters most for travelers with anxiety, autistic and neurodivergent passengers, and anyone who needs a step free route. Today about 15,000 Avianca passengers a month use it.

A fast integration

Because every RouteMe route is a URL, the integration did not require rebuilding anything inside the app. From kickoff to live took about a month of calendar time, with well under two weeks of development work.
